Hello and welcome. I am a Manchester based counsellor and psychotherapist who specialises in working with men. As men invariably come in couples, I often work with men within the context of their relationships. I undertake relationship counselling with straight and gay couples.  I usually see both partners at the same time, but if your partner won’t come, I can see you on your own.

The important thing for me about couple work is I have no investment in whether the relationship ‘improves’ or ‘gets worse’.  My only concern is that both people work to increase their awareness of themselves, the other person, and their relationship.  As a result, both partners should be clearer about a constructive way forward.

Of course the safety of both people is extremely important.  Part of safety is trusting that the therapist will treat both partners in a fair and even handed manner. This I undertake to do with every couple I work with.
